Stephen Lang to return for ‘Avatar’ Sequels

Movies, News

The upcoming Avatar sequels are in full swing as production gets underway and casting continues. Today we’ve learned of two new additions to the cast which opens up a lot of possibilities for the sequels.

Both Matt Gerald and Stephen Lang will be returning to the forests of Pandora. As you probably remember both of those characters died horrible deaths at the hands of the Navi and its fauna. Both actors are confirmed to be returning for the four sequels to terrorize the inhabitants of  Pandora. Director James Cameron seems very intent on keeping the same antagonist. During an interview with Empire he stated:

“The interesting conceit of the Avatar sequels is it’s pretty much the same characters,” he says. “There are new characters and a lot of new settings and creatures, so I’m taking characters you know and putting them in unfamiliar places and moving them on this greater journey. But it’s not a whole bunch of new characters every time. There’s not a new villain every time, which is interesting. Same guy. Same motherfucker through all four movies. He is so good and he just gets better. I know Stephen Lang is gonna knock this out of the park.”

I personally find this all to be very exciting. For one, these movies actually seem to be happening after a series of delays and two it’s nice to see a mythology being formed with the world of Avatar. How are these character coming back? Are they clones? Does it have something to do with them dying on Pandora? Did they all have long lost twins who are really pissed that their siblings died? The possibilities are endless. Also who else can return from the dead? Hopefully, we can see the return of Michelle Rodriguez’s  Trudy.

What do you think of these new Avatar sequel developments? Please let us know in the comments below.
