A new trailer for Kingsman: The Golden Circle dropped earlier this week and it is loaded with new tidbits about the Statesman, the plot of the movie, the action of this movie and features the return of Harry Hart, after being seemingly shot dead.
This movie stars Taron Egerton, Channing Tatum, Halle Berry, Julianne Moore, Mark Strong, Colin Firth and many other individuals. It is being directed by Matthew Vaughn himself and will include the American counterparts of the Kingsman, the Statesman
The trailer begins with a narration from the first movie by Harry as he introduces Eggsy to the Kingsman and tells him he has the qualities to be one. Quick shots of cars driving, Eggsy walking into the Kingsman headquarters and Roxy sitting at the table. Eggsy straightens his tie as the camera cuts to Merlin holding a bag of an assortment of weapons that are very typically American in nature. The inclusion of baseballs possibly suggests that they are weapons of the Statesman.
A taxi jumps into the water with Eggsy behind the wheel and he parks inside. However, the next scene is inside the headquarters of the Kingsman with the new Arthur-like character who will be played by Michael Gambon.
The reason for the coming together of the unlikely groups is the Kingsmen HQ being blown up, presumably killing everyone inside. Vaughn has taken this bold move as in his words ,’ “It felt like the right thing to do. We’re not Bond, we do what feels right. We’re allowed to push the rules and reinvent things.’ There were only 2 survivors those being Eggsy and Merlin. The newly recruited Kingsman wears an orange smoking jacket which is something Harry Hart wouldn’t be caught dead in. (Wait nevermind..) The introduction of the Statesman is right after a costume upgrade for Merlin and Eggsy. Audiences are also introduced to Agent Tequila who is Channing Tatum’s character in a whiskey distillery, beating up some bad guys. Characters from the previous movie are reintroduced such as Charlie Hesketh who survived the event, however, now being one-armed and working for the new villain. There is a scene that draws many parallels to the church scene featuring Agent Whiskey, who becomes very closely involved in Eggsy’s quest. Brief flashes of our new villain and Ginger, who is Merlin’s American counterpart can be observed.
The trailer ends with Harry Hart appearing to live in some padded cell. Eggsy and Merlin react with varying degrees of shock and confusion.
I, for one, am very pumped for this movie as well as the new characters we’re going to meet. What are your thoughts on Kingsman: The Golden Circle?
