Today in an unprecedented announcement Warner Bros and DC Entertainment revealed plans for a DC Centric direct-to-consumer digital service that will offer “an immersive experience designed just for DC fans.” The service will also be the new home for Young Justice season 3 and the formerly announced Titans.
This actually seems like a smart move. While there is no confirmation on pricing or if there will be one, yet another streaming service is kind of annoying. But DC has the material to do so. With a possibility of all their animated series, films, television series, etc. housed in one place along with this service being the only place to watch the long awaited Young Justice Season 3 is genius.
Speaking of Young Justice the new season will be called Young Justice: Outsiders. The series will follow the teenage superheroes of the DC Universe come of age in an animated world of superpowers, super villains and super secrets. In the new season, the team faces its greatest challenge as it takes on meta-human trafficking and the terrifying threat it creates for a society caught in the crossfire of a genetic arms race spanning the globe and the galaxy.
While the live-action Titans series will follow Dick Grayson, who emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes that includes Starfire, Raven and others.
Greg Berlanti & Akiva Goldsman & Geoff Johns will spearhead the project coming in 2018. Young Justice will have the same creative team from the original series.
Young Justice Outsiders sounds great. Meta-human trafficking!? Give it to me now! Titans doesn’t really excite me as much but I’m happy to see the series going forward knowing there are multiple fans that will love to see this come to fruition.
Overall this all sounds like a great move on DC’s part. One big digital palace housing two big powerhouse shows that fans will hopefully embrace.
