A Very Sad Day: Amy Schumer Won’t be Driving Barbie’s Corvette, After All

The actress, who originally signed up in December, has dropped out of the film

She dropped out due to apparently Sony not being able to move off production start date due to Mattel’s heavy and hard to move commitment on merchandising schedules.

This is really unfortunate. With Schumer’s casting, the filmmakers seemed to be taking a self aware direction with this film, in the vein of the ’21 Jump Street’ franchise. Not that this obviously can’t be done without Schumer, she was just a perfect choice. Regardless, I’m still excited to see how this film turns out, as there’s so much potential to be had here.
