A game to movie adaption with so much potential, yet so much room for error.
During Wednesday’s launch live stream of Gears of War 4, which releases on Oct. 11, a Gears of War movie was announced, again. This time, Microsoft and Universal will be teaming up to bring the video game to the screen. Film producers, Scott Stuber (“Ted,” “The Kingdom) and Dylan Clark (Rise of the Planet of the Apes.”) will be producing.
If you don’t remember, a “Gears” movie was announced a while ago, but it had been stuck in development hell. At one point this film was going to be a prequel, but it isn’t know if that’s still happening. I would prefer that, as Gears is already a video game that plays like a movie. Like the Assassin’s Creed movie, a prequel or a movie not based on any of the games would make sense for further expanding the universe. The “Gears” universe is already so massive that a movie could work really well.
