Earlier this week at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia Conference, Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes made a few comments regarding the DCEU. Now thanks to “The Suicide Squadcast” we know his full comments. Including a hint at the release date for the Ben Affleck’s Batman movie.
Regarding Ben Affleck’s Batman movie, Jeff Bewkes said:
“I think it’s a year and a half out.”
Most say it confirms that “The Flash” and the solo Batman movie are switching release dates, but not so fast. We don’t even know if he’s referring to the release of the movie. Ben Affleck does have a self directed project scheduled for a 2018 release. Bewkes could be referring to the start of production. If that is true then don’t expect the solo Batman movie until 2019. But if he’s referring to the release, expect it to be the untitled October 2018 release date.
A few months back Affleck said that the script was almost finished, and that he was perfecting it. We can assume that by now it’s most likely done. My guess would be that his self directed 2018 movie “Witness For The Prosecution” will be moved back, and he’ll do the Batman solo movie first. But if “Witness For The Prosecution” has a very early 2018 release, then the Batman movie could hit theaters late 2018. Who knows? This is all just speculation. Hopefully we will get confirmation soon enough.
