Box Office: ‘Suicide Squad’ Takes Huge Dive But Stays On Top; ‘Sausage Party’ Exceeds Expectations

“Suicide Squad” is not only only having a rough time with critics, but a rough time at the domestic box office. Meanwhile, “Sausage Party” is cooking up succeess with huge opening weekend numbers.

David Ayer’s villainous team up movie “Suicide Squad” has-as predicted-stumbled in its second weekend at the domestic box office. Bringing in $43.8 million over the weekend, which is a huge 67 percent drop. “Suicide Squad” seems to have suffered the same fate of “Batman V Superman” which had massive opening weekend numbers, but flourished in its second weekend. Although, it’s having a tough time with critics, “Suicide Squad” current sits at a total of $465.4 million worldwide. For a movie that currently sits at a 27 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and only needs $600 million to break even, it’s definitely a hot for Warner Bros.

The R-Rated animated comedy “Sausage Party” did excellent over the weekend, exceeding expectations with $33.6 million.

Disney’s “Pete’s Dragon” brought in a mere $21 million, on a $65 million budget. Let’s hope it does better internationally.

“Jason Bourne” came in at third with $13.6 million, bringing it to a domestic total of $126.8 million.

“Bad Moms” topped off the top five with $11.5 million.

That’s it for this weekend’s box office report, what do you think of these numbers? Let us know in the comments.
